I know that for me and many other people, there was no reason or appeal instructions provided at the time of the ban. I had to run around attempting to contact several mods/admins (many of which ignored DMs or had them disabled) just to understand why I was banned in the first place and how to file an appeal.
The appeal process itself is also something that should be under reconsideration if democratization is a goal for this site. Sending an appeal form into the void with the hopes that one of the moderators that may have taken action against you would be able to impartially review the merit of your appeal is… not an ideal system.
