Honestly cannot believe that lemmygrad.ml didn’t already have lemmygrad.com set up as a redirect

I completely can. They’re extremely bad at literally anything other than coding and even the coding part is… debatable.

See: them unbanning literal fascists for “free speech” reasons

Lemmygrad and lemmy.ml are two different instances; the unbanning of fascists was done on lemmy.ml and not lemmygrad. We would never not ban fascists lol.

Is there a summary of this I can look at? This is good news, although still really concerning that the main lemmy instance is platforming fascists.

If we took up the .com as a redirect then they’d register .net, then .org, then .biz, then . country codes, then . whatever those new domains are (xyz, fun, io, there’s hundreds of them). What we can do is protect our IP which is the lemmygrad name and logo (which they edited a bit to use). Stealing a domain name like that is against copyright law and other laws that try to prevent exactly this from happening. I think that was actually the original meaning of astroturfing.
