Often when I come home drunk and alone and depressed I play communist songs to cheer myself up. The anthem and the comment did the trick for me tonight.

Here’s something I’m thinking of right now: in Portuguese, the verb to be is actually two different verbs, both ser and estar. Ser refers to permanent states, I am a human being, eu SOU um ser humano. Estar refers to transitory, impermanent situations, which won’t last forever - eu estou bêbado, I am drunk, but it’ll pass.

So… the world is absolute shit and it’s hard to be hopeful, especially when you’re a communist and can see the writing on the wall. But I urge you all to think “o mundo está uma merda”, the impermanent form, instead of “o mundo é uma merda”, the one that’s going to stay that way for good. The center cannot hold. Communism will win. Communism will never die.
