The podcast Boonta Vista sometimes reads lists of Distinctly American Names and it rules

They’re not always civil war ass Phineas Hitchcock or Thelonious Fuller but they always sound american somehow

Probably because they’re not american. I hear about people named Dick and Randy every day so those don’t faze me, but a normal English name like Reginald sounds goofy to me.
