I love worldbuilding exposition but recognize the danger of it getting in the way of a good story. Avatar: The Last Airbender is probably the best recent example of a fantasy setting which organically weaves the worldbuilding into its narrative without being a drag on the narrative. Korra’s worldbuilding on the other hand is a goddamn mess because Bryke were radlibs who understood the necessity of a bourgeois revolution against feudalism but couldn’t write socialists or anarchists to save their lives.
You’re not alone. I don’t know if you’ve come across her before, but Worldbuilding notes has an excellent channel, which is basically just her being an awesome creator goddess in the most charming way possible.
