I’m not sure I follow your point. I read about the story on blogs and social media before the Intercept published their investigative report. I wouldn’t have known anything about a small town mayor’s run for Congress if he hadn’t been (wrongly) accused of inappropriate behavior. My point is that I read about the story, then I read about the investigation, then I read a follow up story from Jacobin saying progressives fell for a sex panic. I didn’t like being implicated in something I could only follow from the outside because I’m not a journalist. My point is journalists are terminally online and think some people yelling on Twitter represents the real world. Then they publish articles to that effect. The rest of us are just living our lives and casually consuming media.
