It raises concern when you actively refuse to set pronouns after being asked to.
It feeds into the status quo where pronouns are just something trans people have to specify and worry about, thus creating a setting where, if you have pronouns on your profile, you can assume that that person is trans.
Normalizing displaying pronouns is an important part if your goal is to stop people assuming your gender by looking at you, which is the current situation which causes a lot of trans people a lot of stress and hurt. If it was instead normalized to ask (for everyone, not just trans people) this could be avoided more.
That’s why refusing to select pronouns (even if it’s just „any pronouns“) is upsetting.
How is „they just don’t care“ at all an excuse??
Your experience as a trans person doesn’t invalidate the experience of others, myself and many others would greatly appreciate other people setting their pronouns, it takes literally 5 clicks.
If you can’t be bothered to do that then I don’t know what to tell you
It sucks because cis people LOVE when even ONE trans person is “cool” with what they do, and they’ll feel validated in believing that trans people concerned with pronouns online are just silly. not that transphobes need to hear it from us but, whats the fucking point in saying what they want to hear. Okay, youre a cool trans person. now let other people care about things.
cis people don’t really have to take orders from you

you don’t have to. i left the larpleft a while ago back of midwit autists trying to strongarm me into bending to their will a while back. now i hope that a leftist revolution will end up doing right by trans people, but it’s not a deal breaker for me and they 100% should not have a seat at the table.
you’re not the only depressed trans person here and it’s pretty sad, although predictable, that the largely-cis audience here is upvoting a post that says “not caring about transphobia isn’t transphobic.” What do we gain by you saying that lol. What do we gain by you patting all the cis people here on the back for continuing to not care
it’s hard for y’all to understand someone like me
Because you use discord all day (very unique and original trait)… somehow your trans experience is the norm and any other transeses who care about pronouns must be snowflakes?

please dont attack people for being neurodivergent?
choosing any option (including non-options like any pronouns) is nailing myself down to a degree that i don’t want to do
i don’t know who i am, i don’t want to know who i am, and after years of trying i’ve decided introspection is an exhausting waste of time
i don’t know if this is helpful or not, but we did add a “none/use name” option. its prolly gonna be the default so no one has to choose anything. its just there.

it can also be super uncomfortable and alienating to set them for some people to set them for Gender Issues reasons. Like yeah if you’re definitely certifiably cis and you just think setting them is idpol that’s runing good old fashioned discourse then you suck and you should set them. But if you’re not super comfy with having to answer that question at all because Gender is a hard and confusing topic then imo that’s an extremely valid reason not to set them.
