View all comments Probably my most “conservative” view when I was in college was that gambling should be outlawed. That happened to be the “christian” perspective in my pink red state which had been upheld for decades - until it wasn’t. I remember arguing with my roommates about why it was a bad idea and would ultimately just extract wealth out of impoverished communities. They regurgitated the same idiotic talking points about it being taxed and the money being dedicated to schools or whatever the fuck.
