Should have asked Chomsky his definition of what constitutes activism, which based on his examples seems to be electoral entryists like Sunrise Movement and the right wing of BLM, rather than radical labour unions.
He also kept switching between saying that voting only takes 10 mins and then saying that activists need to encourage others to vote for Biden. So is his argument that “activists” just need to take 10 mins to vote for Biden or that they need to organize for him?
Chomsky should have challenged BJG for basing her argument on the premise that marginal voters are generally closer to the left and candidates need to offer material benefits to get them to vote. This is what Bernie’s primary strategy was based on and it failed spectacularly.

Because the materially existing left in the United States is small, certainly when you compare it to the organising skill of the bourgeoisie. The strategy wasn’t wrong, the balance of forces was.
