Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins
Defense Politics Asia’s youtube channel and their map. I recommend their map more than the channel at this point, as an increasing subscriber count has greatly diminished their quality.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)
Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources. Beware of chuddery.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are fairly brainworm-free and good if you don’t want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. The Duran, of which he co-hosts, is where the chuddery really begins to spill out.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

No, he says that the economy of China is 5x greater than the economy of India. He isn’t saying the growth increment alone is that large but that the entire Chinese economy is that large and therefore 3% growth in China represents more economic growth in total than 7% growth in India.
He’s telling the Indian commentariat to stop gloating because India is still very poor and China is approaching “high income” status, and so lower growth in percentage terms in expected as a structural feature and that it’s entirely mistaken to believe this means India is now doing better than China.
MKB is pointing out that rising from 100 to 107, a rise of 7%, is actually less impressive than growing from 500 to 515, a rise of 3%.
I think he slightly overstated the case to place China in the “high income” group already but I believe that is since he’s speaking to an Indian audience and is seeking a particular affect - to counter complacency and self-congratulations. But he isn’t confusing numbers like that.
