The worst is when you’re in a long-term relationship with a liberal or an open right-winger and all the problematic opinions keep coming with every new event. It’s always become a tug-of-war between trying to respect them as a person and questioning if they’re a sociopath.
Lol…not sure if she still is but my ex and baby mamma, believe it or not, was a 4channing, gamer gate, sargon of ahkad watching, SJW fear mongerer when we split. Pretty sure she’s at least anti trump but…yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah…suffice it to say we both took *exceptionally * divergent political paths and outlooks on life over the past decade or so. “Irreconcilable differences” is one way to say it I guess. Thankfully I have primary, and parallel parenting and disengagement is easier then ever in the modern era but still…god bless my poor kiddo for being torn between the two of us.
I don’t even think I’d date a socdem anymore unless they’re on board with Under No Pretexts. A previous partner terrified me when I said “we might have to run the Canadian border at some point to escape Trump and his militias” and she refused to touch a gun then or learn how to safely handle one prior to needing to use it. Ideology isn’t a test of their opinions so much as it is a test of how they’ll respond to conditions, and as conditions worsen they’ll either tune out or become reactionary.
