Decks that run a lot of board control can be overwhelming and obnoxious if that’s not the kind of experience you enjoy or are looking for. IMO magic is best played with a group of people who have a mutual understanding of the collective game experience the group wants to have. At the same time, counters and interaction are an intimate part of the game (especially for blue and white) so it can be a tough balance to strike.
