I mean, they probably COULD make a billion at once but don’t have retailer adoption because they’re not cheap enough as far as the supermarkets are concerned. They don’t think adults would buy a toy worth more than £10. They are very very wrong though.
AFAIK anything tied to otaku and weeb culture knows it’ isn’t serving a giant industry, at least until now

The Japanese market are super behind on what the scale of the market for merch is outside of their domestic sales. It’s a little odd how difficult it is to get them to commit to anything at scale.
