Stage Separation Failure supposedly, but frankly it was looking bad long before that.

I’m sure the debris damage will buff out.

Yes, I know, though honestly that exhaust didn’t look healthy to me, nor did the somewhat sudden tilt from the pad ( Some rockets do this but I didnt think thatbwas part of the plan here) and I did see green here and there.

The Starship project is a genuinely technically impressive one, held back by the fact its in any way associated with a billionaire.

It does look like one of the engines did explode (https://streamable.com/dhxsa8) but didn’t cause a chain reaction or structural damage, very interesting. I’m seeing speculation that it might’ve damaged the TVC system (gimballing of the engine to control steering) which could’ve caused the loss of control at stage sep.

Yeah I think they’ll probably want to put a deluge system in place before the next launch given how much the pad was excavated, so that would probably be the biggest factor for the next launch date.
