It was a bit awkward but, yah know it was sex, which is nice
lol don’t cancel. the solution is not to hang out with old people on the off chance you might get them sick.
This is exactly the sort of rhetoric that has us in this mess. You don’t get to pick and choose who you spread it to, and you have even loss influence over who they spread it to.
They manufactured your consent with this “we’ll keep the old people safe” nonsense.
Also what are the old people supposed to do? Tossing social isolation on them because we don’t want to do it is pretty nasty.
Look, I’ll pre-empt this by saying we’ve barely left the house since March; but the united states has given up on the containment of covid. Now the only option you got is to play it safe, stay home as much as you can, and understand the risk of meeting with anyone has (depending on location) a small or incrementally large chance of getting it and someone you love, sick. If you are in an area that has seen the worst of covid, the most important thing you can do is keep wearing a mask and keep sanitation practices. If you are in an area spiking with cases and deaths: stay home, for your sake, and the lack of emergency capacity at hospitals. Other than that, the government already failed, it’s only a matter of time for everyone catching it and those worse off dying; I am not saying this is ok, I was literally talking to my brother yesterday about how politicians should be sleeping with one eye open, and yet they are able to safely walk the streets right now. If you are healthy enough to not feel too threatened by covid, you should be cautious and do what you need to do to stay healthy, safe, and mentally well - that includes basic necessities like food, human contact, shelter, and sex. Worrying about getting someone sick should always be a concern and that’s why at best, you should be limiting contact with older people and always wearing a mask. If older and vulnerable people don’t wear a mask, that’s their perogative.
I mean they kinda have a point but I’m left curious if they get this pissy at people going to BLM protests or ordering Chinese takeout. Or the plethora of other behaviors that people who otherwise are doing a good job at abiding by social distancing mandates but occasionally indulge in despite the slight risk do.
Did you really just compare getting laid again to going to a civil rights march?
