I like this article but I think it mischaracterizes the EV push. Well I think it’s right identifying it as imperialistic competition The push for EVs is also very heavy by environment focused groups since cars are a major contributor to global emissions. Many other countries that aren’t in direct competition with China like Finland are already converting most of their petrol powered cars into electric vehicles and making petrol power illegal.

If you want to focus on something that’s much more likely to be influenced by imperialistic competition that would be something like the chips act which is straight up to get the US out of Chinese factories and labor
