I am once again asking the left to stop chasing after fascists and putting their efforts into converting fascists but instead to put their efforts into closely vetting the people who they allow to become leaders.

We’ve really gotta stop glamourising ex-fascists and start viewing them with a deeply critical lens.

Either they’re just a flip-flopper/grifter like Faraday Speaks (“So I watched some YouTube videos from reactionaries and I decided I was also a reactionary, then I watched some videos from leftists and I decided that I’m now a leftist, since then I have decided that I’m some sort of centrist [I think? Idk]… Love me, love me love me - I’m the ideological equivalent of a windvane”) or they are an actual fascist but it takes a very long time to undo fascist programming.

I’m happy to give golf claps to converts who get paraded around as proof that people can change etc. but there’s a reason why the black community doesn’t immediately stick the ex-Klansmen who had a change of heart a fortnight ago into a position of leadership; the left needs to be warm and welcoming to people who are new but there’s a massive difference between extending hospitality and appointing people to positions of leadership and throwing tons of cash their way.
