In pre-covid times

go to a bar, see a show you might like stand around awkwardly, get a drink go outside, bum a cigarette from someone, or if you already have one bum a light strike up a convo “good band huh” / “this band sucks” / “I like your shirt” / “dang I always wanted to try Blue Spirits” typical responses “yeah, they’re good do you listen to <insert normie band here>” / “Yeah, I’m friends with the drummer we all told him he sucks” / “Thanks, yeah, do you listen to Chapo Trap House?” / “Here have one” +1 friend They probably have friends of their own so you can build off that. Overall I find it’s easiest to talk to people like you’re already friends. (not really close friends)

or, to any stranger you see during the day “Hey, haven’t I seen you around somewhere?” usually they’ll be a sucker and list off a few of the places they show their face a lot. Just lie and say you also go to those places.
