Is this about Russian foot wraps? Both socks and foot wraps are fine.

Edit: I now know what’s going on with this post, but it is interesting to note that the red army did not actually use socks. Using wraps instead of socks was even a point of pride for some: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Footwraps
