If you said in 2011 that there would be an avowed socialist to come within a stone’s throw of winning the Democratic primary twice within the next decade or that Jeremy Corbyn would come out of nowhere to force the UK into a hung parliament, you’d be laughed at. If you said we’d put a half-dozen socialists in Congress in two years, you’d be laughed at. An Amazon factory could unionize in a month. You have people in Congress openly supporting defunding police. Democrats are at least forced to pretend to like our ideas. We’re not there yet - either at the ballot box or on the ground. But the last decade - heck, even the last 5 years - has been ten times better than any of us would have hoped for if you asked us in 2011.
