Inspired by a recent thread. I’ve seen a bunch of people advocating for no shampoo lately, and I want to get to the bottom of this.
Anti-shampoo people, show yourselves, I want answers. Should we all stop doing shampoo? Is it a thing for everyone or only certain hair types? Is it superior to good shampoo + good conditioner? Do you need to do literally anything with it if you’re doing no shampoo or just let it go wild? This whole thing flies in the face of everything I think I know about hair and I want ANSWERS dammit 😤
What did humans do before shampoo? Did everyone just have frizzy, dry, or oily hair? No, they washed it in a fucking river with water because your hair already has oils in it that keep it healthy. No, this isn’t a nature worship meme, shampoo is bad because it strips oils from your hair and causes your hair to overproduce oil to compensate, causing a awful cycle of dryness, oiliness, and torment. So just stop, wash your hair with water in the shower, and in a few weeks you hair (anyone’s hair, doesn’t matter what type) will stop overproducing oil and you will be gucci.
