I played this game a shit ton as a kid, and I can’t get over the fact that it released little over a month before the American invasion of Iraq in 2003. IIRC, the first American mission features a cutscene of tanks running over the Victory Arch.
The storyline revolves around America and the PRC fighting a witldwide terrorist front called the “Global Liberation Army”.
Please, may I have some shoes?
Yeah, I put some hours into it for sure.
That went over my head as a kid, what alludes to Maoism, just their name? I kinda think giving them car/suicide bomber units that screamed “alllalalalalalalllllll” was a little on the nose
edit: couldnt find evidence of this, but listen to these voice lines https://youtu.be/LMUVKLgf0qw
The voice lines were all far right muslim militant staples, even at like 12 years of age me and all my friends who played it saw it for what it was(we all grew up around that kind of stuff, I’m a case of sloppy indoctrination myself)
The music was good
I’ve always been an airplane nerd and I positively loved the one American faction in the Zero Hour expansion that had missile defense lasers on the airplanes, damn near invincible… except those fucking quad cannons could just shred aircraft with wicked speed.
I need to go dig through some discs soon.
If you happen to have access to EA Play, there’s a “remastered” version of C&C and RA out there that are available thru that service. Or for sale, but obviously I wouldn’t recommend buying it again if you have the old discs around. Having the classic game with a modernized UI and high-res graphics is pretty neat.
Yes that game owned. Huge upgrade to older C&C games, at least technically
