I have to write a paper on my “favorite” Supreme Court judge, which I obviously don’t have. So, does anyone know a good judge I could write about? Edit: A couple of people suggested Thurgood Marshall, who looks like a good option. The idea of picking a terrible judge to write about sounds like fun, but I’m not sure how effective arguing that the Supreme Court is bad because of one bad judge would be. I prefer to write about stuff I like over stuff I hate anyways. Thanks comrades!

You could pick the worst judge to force the person grading the paper to learn about them.

OP, this is absolutely the way to write this paper. it’ll be way better too because you’ll have fun with it.

It is, provided the instructor is at least somewhat cool. If it’s an asshole teacher it’s probably not worth it.

Still worth it. School is a joke. Force the teacher to take a stand. Heighten the contradictions. Yes, I am a teacher. One time, my lib coworker stopped a student from making a report about his favorite revolutionary, Osama bin Laden

There was that 1920s guy appointed by woodrow wilson who refused to be seated in the same room with the first Jewish justice. The name “Oliver Wendell Holmes” comes to mind but this could be complete bullshit

Thank you. Oliver Wendell Holmes was the “free speech advocate” dumb bitch who said that protesting the WWI draft was the same as shouting “fire in a crowded theater” when it comes to free speech

The Supreme Court is obviously a reactionary institution and you really have to squint to find any good in it. That being said, Thurgood Marshall and Sonia Sotomayor probably clear the bar of “good.”

True, and I might point this out in my paper. But to be honest my primary concern is getting a good grade, not written something which is actually true
