That’s actually why a baker’s dozen is 13, is because you used to bring your bread to the baker and they would bake it for you(or you would pay then for the dough before they baked it) and they would often swipe some to cut costs. People got mad and forced the baker to give them extra bread so they wouldn’t be stolen from.
