Always blows my mind that the reaction to:

“Gay people are at risk of being exploited by hostile countries espionage organizations because they can be blackmailed”

isn’t

“So lets normalize homosexuality and make sexual orientation no longer something some people are ashamed of and something other people persecute”

but instead

“Lets further the marginilization of these people, including the brilliant mathematician who played a major contribution in us winning a war against the fascists”
