Maybe stop building golf courses and growing water intensive crops in A FUCKING DESERT
85% of water used in Idaho (one of the most arid states) is for irrigation/agriculture, most of which is for hay and alfalfa. But the governor is telling individuals to conserve water while brushing your teeth to address the drought. 🙄
That, plus every fucking school in Phoenix has a soccer field that they have to flood constantly just so the grass doesn’t die. Air conditioning and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race.
It’s not even decent grass either. It’s just dry crusty grass that cuts you if you ever slide on it anyway.
We been limited in our water usage where I live in southern california for years now. Of course no limit for big busnisses in agriculture or farms. I fucking hate my state.
You could try living in Alaska where there’s no limit for water usage and it’s clean drinking water from the tap.
Trade off is 8 months of dark cold winter, and living in a state where ten miles from the city limits brings you into “the hills have eyes” gunfucker chudlands.
But there’s plenty of berrypicking and foraging to do so that’s a plus.

there are 49 other ones
At least Southern California has the Metropolitan Water District so cities and counties work together somewhat - they’ll still run out of water eventually, or be forced to pay for desalination, but I have some hope that the Democrats that control that state could be forced to cut water to big business and farms if they faced enough pressure from the public (I doubt it, but I can dream).
What will happen with Utah and Arizona? Republicans would never dream of cutting water to big businesses. Will it be every city for themselves, or will new reservoirs be built that will specifically only supply water to wealthy towns and suburbs? Utah is already there - they wanted to build a reservoir with mostly federal money to supply water to new developments and a new Mormon temple.
Been trying for who knows how long here to pass some sort of salt water to fresh water thing but heavy propaganda from some rich asshole keeps getting it shot down. Said asshole I think owns the water system or something. A lot of my town relies on wells and they been drying up.
Sucks to hear about Utah and Arizona. Sounds like hell.
Begun, the water wars have
Everton should read The Water Knife by Paola Bacigalupi, great book.
*e: did autocorrect really make my shit say “Everton?”
