same like I honestly only noticed this becoming a thing since the past few years. It definitely didnt happen or at least wasnt nearly as destructive during bush or obama. I feel like one of the posters here wasnt too wrong when they said it’s almost like a backlash to the recent prominence of trans and enby persons, which is manifesting as this aggressive reinforcement of the gender binary
That’s a way too abstract explanation for this bizzarre shit. Also what are the takes from our trans comrade on gender reveal parties overall? I have no idea but it feels to me like a good way to create a positive experience for a trans child who’s beginning a transition. But that said should everyone get one? Should no one have one? Just for kids and parents who want to do one? Why do any of these parties need massive explosions? Is this a chud phenomenon or are these just well intentioned, open minded and cool people with a lot of high explosive? The former seems more likely but that begs the question of whether children or a gender reveal of any kind is actually involved in this. Which then leads me to question why the media would report on these as gender reveal parties if it is a right wing satire/demolition practice. I’m so fucking confused. What is going on. Please someone help me understand this.
The gender reveal parties in these stories are not about trans kids coming out. These are parents who have found out the biological sex of their unborn child blowing shit up with blue/pink characteristics.
I won’t try to argue against that thought because it probably is partially true for some shitheads. But I think it mostly revolves around how popular it is on social media and everyone tries to one up each other or go viral. So they keep making more and more ridiculous exploding shit that sprays out blue or pink smoke or other shit. People really just out here trying to make pink bombs cause it will be a cool post to their like-minded friends.
It’s trending in part because the reveal is something you can record and post vs an entire baby shower where you’re only posting pictures. Also a lot of conservatives like them because they’re obsessed with gender now.

I think they’re just common parties that usually have improvised explosives, so it keeps happening. At least fireworks are mass sold, these are all individual’s unique horrible ideas.

Explosive targets have been used for ages by rednecks who like to shoot them, I think the problem is introducing them to a population that has no experience using them and wants to use way more than a safe amount.

My new gender reveal method is injecting one of the parents with either blue or pink dye and then blowing them up in the middle of a crowd of onlookers. Then the color of the viscera that sprays over everyone will let them know if the baby will be a boy or a girl!
