Because it is not so much genetic, the basis wasn’t so much “scientific” racism like it was in colonial nations, it was a more basic kind of racism and nationalism was the main component.

Lol, Most Turkish people ethnically descend from the Greeks, only 10% of Turkey is “ethnically Turkish” but most of us Turkish people are not aware of that fact at all because of the extreme nationalism here. I’m Turkish but my ancestors were probably from Caucasia.

Weird I never heard that before. Surely most people are mixed then, right? It makes sense, because of how hard it would be to travel during the 10th-18th centuries, that there would be more of a cultural shift and political/resource control, with moderate migration to the new territory, rather than like a full genocide until the 20th century when the Christian Greek-speaking ethnic Greeks were mostly expelled and murdered

Yeah, it’s mixed of course, it would be more accurate to say that most Turkish people are mostly Greek.

And you’re right, the reason is because those Greeks were culturally assimilated over time.

yeah Anatolia was Greek for centuries from Alexander’s conquests up until the Seljuks came in. and even then Greeks were in the west for a few centuries afterwards

These are the type of people the US is supporting in Xinjiang. Not some anti-colonial movement within the region, but just psycho genocidal nationalists.

I am Turkish and wouldn’t put it like that, but yeah nationalism on an extreme level is shockingly common in Turkey

No, I know there are plenty of people who are Turkish who aren’t like that (the vast majority). I was just saying that the specific separatists that the US gives millions to are exactly this. There are photos of the UWC guys wearing maga hats and shooting guns with cops lol.

Unexplainable, if you enter even the ‘academic’ area of Balkan nationalism, you will never be able to leave.
