Admittedly even though I’ve been listening to chapo since 2018-ish I only became “officially part of the community”, as in i started following the podcast every week and joined the subreddit, a few months ago when i became very politically invested upon seeing how bad the government dealt with the pandemic. as a result i’m not too familiarized with a lot of the inside jokes one of them being this collective annoyance at Amber. I’ve heard some rumours about her criticizing the subreddit and telling us all to “get a life” or something along those lines, but apart from that I don’t really know much about her outside of the chapo realm. Care to elucidate me?
I liked her until she literally called the protesters minoritarians, like there’s a point where it goes from lame but occasionally insightful contrarianism to just being a fuckin racist, we all have our lines, and she flew mach 7 over it last month
Amber
I’m kinda dumb so don’t put too much stock into this but it has always seemed to me that her core perspective is that the proletariat are the CHUDs she grew up with in the Midwest and therefore anything that those CHUDs don’t like should be eliminated from the communist agenda. Like she fetishizes the white working class a little too much and instead of asking “how do we make them less reactionary” her general conclusion is “we should be a bit more reactionary.”
Credit where credit’s due, she does have some good, salient points now and again, but most of the time it feels like she’s just there to be a contrarian against any and all perceived wokescolding
Amber is the most committed of the hosts to the whole “anti-woke” thing. I distrust the motivations of any Leftist who leans too hard into being anti-PC. Makes it seem like they’re just contrarians who just want healthcare for themselves instead of people who really believe in emancipation or anti-capitalism.
Though she gets extra shit for being a woman. Felix says outrageous stuff constantly, as jokes, and nobody calls him on it.
