Midwesterner checking in - whats the problem with buckthorn?
I’ve heard it can go pretty insane and overrun areas. Plus it rhizomes so it is hard to eradicate. I planted some sea buckthorn here (not the Midwest) a couple years ago and it is still small, but I’m keeping an eye on it. I like the berries. They taste strong, like you’re eating a vitamin.
Don’t eat the invasive, sweet, diarrhea-causing buckthorn berry. Instead eat the native, acrid, “more antioxidants than a bar of 100% dark chocolate” chokeberry.
