Man, imagine living somewhere where massive infrastructure projects are undertaken swiftly for the benefit of the entire population.
I really like seeing the contrasts of China and the US. The Us for years has been used as an example of the free market and what it can accomplish. Anyone can come from anywhere and make something of themselves. What’s often left out of that is how those who fall on hard times are taken care of. The assumption many make is to say it’s their faults for choosing to make a life decision that somehow justifies them being poor in the first place.
China, on the other hand, shows the competence of a strong central government that can meet the peoples needs. There are still a lot of issues that the Chinese government has, but it’s leagues above what I’m used to with a corrupt government that switches political parties every other year.
I live in the global south and it’s frankly even worse. The government can’t even keep itself composed for a solid four years before infighting occurs and those that do usually do so with military backing. My department has been lucky enough to keep its governors somewhat stable, even though they’re handpicked.
I remember watching a CGTN documentary about the difficulties of implementing the plans to alleviate poverty

This is a real nice concept with stunning execution. It’s brilliant to see such dramatic incorporation of green smack in the middle of the city.
