An original design for renewable power generation was developed in 2010 and relied mainly on wind generation with a couple of 100 kilowatts of solar.

But the former Federal Energy Minister, Josh Frydenberg, who doesn’t like wind turbines, overruled his Department and cancelled the wind component of the plan.

Ah Josh, I’ll always remember the time you were publicly humiliated by the then SA premier, Jay Weatherill.

Anyway, a nice achievement in Lord Howe and hopefully they can get to 100% soon with battery and solar tech continuing to drop in price.

Surely a wind option would be back on the table now that Frydenburg is toast.

Also if you haven’t been there, LH is absolutely amazing.
