2022 midterms will be interesting!
So the Dems are really trying their hardest to never win an election again, huh
Reminder that you can call fedloan services every 3 months and request a temporary forbearance without having to fill out any paperwork. Before the pandemic, I was doing this regularly and no one seemed to care. I’m pretty sure you can just do this forever and never have to pay your student loans back.
Isn’t everything getting switched to a new loan servicer now? I heard someone say this in a group chat but I don’t really know what that’s going to mean for how Americans’ student loans will actually work in real life.
Damn. Well, hopefully you can do the same thing. The temp forbearance is something they do over the phone to supposedly give you time to apply for longer term forbearance, but it doesn’t appear that they keep track of how many times it’s done, and the call center workers who do it don’t care enough to ask questions. Hopefully, whoever takes over handles things in a similar way.
Only thing to watch out for is I think they keep charging interest when you do this. The covid pause was nice bc they took interest down to zero so even though we all stopped paying our balances didn’t grow
That’s true, but the idea is that you could theoretically just keep doing this forever and never have to pay it back.
I’ve been working on this since mid-2020. I’ll be happy to see this project completed!
US government taking a brick off the gas pedal and replacing it with two bricks
“Good! They made the personal choice to take out those loans” :frothingfash:
