In Eastern Europe population growed until 1991 and then began to decline. Wonder, what happened.
Child care costs more than state college in many cities.
25-30k a year for 5 days of child care for a single kid is not unheard of. Who the fuck can afford that in their 20’s?
Good news, the government is going to start subsidizing childcare so it will also start to moon like the price of college.
Yeah I dont know how anyone has kids. Im doing okay for a millennial and I can barely fathom the scope of what having a kid would do to me financially.
Love my kid but yeah, its fucking rough. Health insurance on its own can absolutely devastate you financially depending on where you are on the payscale. A lot of jobs that offer it full benefits up front actually have a huge premium increase once you add a dependent. PreK was a complete nonstarter for me. Add in medical acccidents that will happen with kids (plus glasses and dental), attempts to give them a happy childhood with fun experiences and the absolutely constant day to day strain of just keeping the house from falling apart and existence just gets exhausting and overwhelming…and I’m one of the lucky ones with a family safety net. So many people have it much worse then I do in my kind of situation and it breaks my heart.
Oops. Maybe putting the entire working population in debt and making housing too expensive for anyone to afford anything else wasn’t such a good idea.
In 20 years, who will stock the shelves with treats?!?!?!?
