Hey so this is The People’s Podcast, an actual podcast we’re creating on the discord self organized from this community at large, here’s the first trial run we did for an episode!

Episodes will be self organized by whatever folks are passionate about that subject, just like this one was, however the final podcast will have 2 parts: one, like this one, with prepared hosts and topics and ideas used to springboard to organic discussions, and a second part (which I call the anarchy segment) where everyone who was listening to the recording gets unmuted and the whole thing becomes a public forum, about the episode, further discussion, dumb bits, whatever. It’ll be like the old episode megathreads but its actually the podcast. This section will be recorded over 2-3 hours and edited down to about 45 minutes or an hour, so times where everyone is talking over each other or what have you can be cut out and we can elevate the gems of the discussion (and we want to figure out how to have the community make these decisions rather than the behind the scenes team having too much control over the final edit)
In episode 0 here, it was initially just a dry run for the comrades who spoke to practice, and for us on the backend to see what the logistics and tech/ editing would be like, but it turned out so well we wanted to share it! That’s why it’s episode 0 and not 1 :)
I want this to be the essence of our community, which I hope can be left unity and solidarity <3

We should have upload to or have our own peertube instance for stuff like this. Also this is great and I’d love to see more.
I like that, but don’t put it exclusively on peertube. That is just a great way to limit reach.
Maybe a little niche, but would love an RSS feed too! RSS + Podcast Republic android app = easy to stay in the loop with podcasts on the go.
We even have a comrade who made a very pretty rss feed, it just needs to be curated a bit and made official
Thanks! This is awesome! I meant an RSS for the People’s Podcast though. If you link up a podcast using RSS you’ll get new episodes downloaded automatically as they’re released. Very convenient!
So feedback so far, great sound quality, needs introduction from host and guests. I don’t know who is speaking or who else I’m going to hear from. Looking forward to listening to it all once I have some time.
I think we’re going to try to avoid any and all introductions, its the people’s podcast, we want to try to keep away from clout chasing too :)
If you want to just make up a new name each time that’s cool, it’s just about being able to picture 3(+?) people in a room from the start. Otherwise when a new person joins the conversation it’s a bit unexpected, someone just teleported into the room I was picturing and it throws me off for a moment.

For the full podcast we plan for it to be anywhere from 3-10 hosts in the first half, and then literally as many people as show up in the second half, like how it is on the discord voice chat :D
Is the podcast with people with a range of tendencies? Or kind of people who roughly agree? Just wondering if there is any discussion or varied takes before I listen. Thanks!

Are there plans for when the proper episode 1 will happen and/or how often episodes will be recorded going forward? Also where would the recording times be announced?
