98% of Westerners are lib or chud.

Libs think they’re above conspiracies and shy away from anything outside the mainstream discourse aside from a couple outliers like JFK’S assassination.

That leaves chuds, who won’t shy away from those things at all so long as it confirms their authorities.

Though there is a subset of libs that believe a bunch of conspiracies. They are very much on online platforms but seem to get out off when they see chud views in the space. They probably self-select out of most spaces.

I kind of wonder the same…I remember back in the early 00s it used to be more mixed, at least in my home country. However, even back then I do remember that political and historical conspiracies tended to attract more rightwing people, and esoteric and magic stuff was more popular with left-leaning people…

I do feel this way, as well. Left wing conspiracies are rarely conspiracies in my opinion, but the communities have shifted dramatically. Not even sure what happened to the forums I used to frequent, but I remember them becoming less anti-cia and more protocols of the elders of zion.

Education level, mainly. Standardized education leads to greater conformity in thought, and liberals condescend to each other for believing the wrong thing. Conservatives are socially allowed to believe whatever batshit thing they want, but since they’re all watching the same media and aren’t very original, they tend to all come up with the same basic ideas. And the media they watch is designed to manipulate uneducated people into voting Republican so it really leans into conspiracy thinking to keep the hogs seething.

I think part of it is the religious tropes within right-wing conspiracy theories. Like cults, they have in groups and out groups, unique language and terminology, charismatic leaders, etc. So it’s more of the framing than the beliefs themselves.

For instance, here we believe that there are government conspiracies carried out by agencies like the FBI or the CIA. We don’t need the extra trappings because our beliefs are based more on facts and reports released from such shady groups.

It’s funny how much the media is trying to portray the reasonable belief that Epstein didn’t kill himself as a conspiracy like chemtrails or q anon.

Half conspiracies involve government, which naturally leans into right skepticism of government?
