Reading your all’s comments on both conventions, it’s just so remarkable to me how neither party is really taking any of this seriously. No one is talking about actually solving problems. Not to mention, definitely nothing ambitious like moving to renewable energy or whatever the hell Republicans are ambitious for.

I think they don’t care because we’re in the smash & grab phase of imperial decline. Keep everyone entertained while the capitalists shore up their ammo for neo-feudalism. I mean, the fall of Rome trope is overdone but this really feels like some 5th century bullshit. Like when the Romans were like “yeah this 8 year old kid is totally the legitimate emperor” while the generals and the army just started taking shit for themselves and the senators didn’t care about a world literally crumbling around them so long as they were doing well materially.
