This is actually a hidden gem. It perfectly describes why the rich cannot tolerate getting any poorer. The human spirit is infinitely able to adjust to ever-higher standards of living, and after only a few months of experiencing them, will think of them as “new defaults”. But it’s only finitely able to adjust to lower standards of living.

I think to enjoy the aesthetic experience of extreme wealth you have to already be ideologically comfortable with the idea that you’re better and more deserving than others. You would still maybe perceive the exertion and pain behind the performance of your inferiors, but you’d be able to take pleasure in it.

I was wearing bib overalls with stains.
And theme parks. Fuck all these “magic” and “experience” shit, I just want to ride an out of control train.
I actually like the “magic” (for tha children and all that)

the difference in price for 1st class and a normal ticket cannot be reasonably described as “a little more money”.
why do these shits always have somber piano music
and anyone who actually follows this advice and falls behind on bills is gonna be told “well it’s because you spent your money irresponsibly :expert-shapiro:”
The point of muzak is so that you know how you’re supposed to feel. One of my favorite things is when a somber movie becomes a comedy because the music, instead of being sad, just because “oh they’re playing this music that’s supposed to sound sad”. Like musical dissociation
