God it pisses me to no end that the rich for centuries to even now seriously thinks that a figure who sit down with paupers, protects prostitutes, touch the sick, and beat up their class :jesus-cleanse: would side with them.
I like to believe that everyone above certain wealth level automatically goes to hell and have to make case for their innocence.
the Bible literally says “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God”, but these people will still twist themselves in knots about how having private jets actually means God somehow favors them, personally.
Any background on this? I can’t get over the level of detail in each and every face
There’s some stuff in the wikipedia article on it. Seems like it was meant to be a social critique - you can see that the people in the central column, close to the icon, seem to be better dressed, while on the side you’ve got more disheveled-looking folks. There’s also the uniformed guys on horseback, some of whom are beating people, I’m guessing this is meant to be officers/aristocrats mad that some filthy poor person got too close to them.
But yeah, the detail here is amazing.
