If that fails, wipe and install Linux.

If that fails, it’s probably a hardware issue and requires component repair or replacement.

How’s your random access memory looking? Is the HD LED solid on when it jams up? You’re probably running out of RAM and the OS is swapping memory pages to the pagefile on the disk (incredibly slow).
