the part about this that blows my mind is the culture of this non-profit. i have worked in and among non-profits across the south eastern US for a lot of my adult life. Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Kentucky. from rough and rural places to angry underserved/overpoliced neighborhoods. secular orgs and faith communities both.
all that to say, i’ve seen some wild shit. wild for me anyway. distressed, unhoused people getting into it and issuing specific/direct threats to other clients or workers in places where there are like valuable, desirable pharmaceuticals under key. everything and everyone is about deescalation. nothing worth any kind of money matters more than the life and safety of workers and clients.
and you know what i have never seen? anybody besides a cop with a fucking gun. who the fuck is this guy and why in the name of fuck was he allowed to carry?? the minute he brought a piece in, shithead should have been sent home with a foot broken off in his ass sideways.
