A friend of my little brother whom I’ve know for a few year is starting to spew some shit and I think her chud Rhodesian “”“refugee”“” parents are even more racist than your average Australian and they’re getting through to her.
First up, crime stats are really policing stats, since people only appear in crime stats if arrested/charged. So racist policing already accounts for a fair chunk of it. After all, we see white folk quite comfortably get away with murdering black folk daily.
Second up, interpersonal crime is more likely in communities devastated by colonisation and slavery, due to the destruction of any sort of societal structure and resourcing. The nature of capitalism making money go to money exacerbates this.
Thirdly, the 13% / 50% stat is for murder, and ignores ‘white collar’ crimes, like the Purdue family creating an opioid epidemic, the GFC, or the big one, wage theft. All of these take more lives than murder in the USA, but they don’t seem to count.
