Left anticommunists remained studiously unimpressed by the dramatic gains won by masses of previously impoverished people under communism. Some were even scornful of such accomplishments. I recall how in Burlington Vermont, in 1971, the noted anticommunist anarchist, Murray Bookchin, derisively referred to my concern for “the poor little children who got fed under communism” (his words).
You’re not even gonna give a source? This is a claim made by Parenti that has no way of being verified. It certainly is not very Bookchin-esque, though it’s possible he said it.
Either way, anarchists generally don’t care much for worshiping people. Bookchin is one of my favorite political thinkers, but he has some serious flaws. I’ll take the good and deride the bad.
