So far I’ve got 0 matches in a week, whereas without “communism will win” I would be getting 1-2 per day.

Idk how I feel about it. I’m getting old, getting lonely, and sometimes just chatting with someone new, even if they end up sucking after a week or two, is enough to give me hope that I’ll find someone. On the flip side I feel like being more upfront would lead to less, but more meaningful interactions. But today, at this moment, I feel a deep loneliness and sadness that I haven’t felt in a very long time.

Fuckin hell. The destruction of the social fabric in capitalist societies fuckin sucks. Just wanna find a cool life-mate to spend my days with.

:deeper-sadness:

Yeah, I know there’s a bazillion other things that are magnitudes more important than this right now, just needed to vent.

Yeah a lot of people can see that as a red flag :(

Take it out. We were all liberals once. There is a better filter to tell which liberals could be saved. It’d have to be more fun than this.

I think you should change it as “communism will win” comes off edgy as hell but absolutely agree that putting leftist stuff on your profile is a good idea because you will genuinely find a better connection with a fellow leftist than some brunch time lib even if it means you won’t get as many matches, I’m pretty sure there was a thread on here a little while ago about things to put on your profile to help find fellow commies I just don’t have time to find it rn but that might help you too

I think both approaches can work. My wife was working class poor and had zero involvement or interest in politics. But she’s compassionate, honest, etc etc.

She’s slowly learning bits and pieces and moving farther left. For example, convincing her that cops are bad took a long time. It rattled one of the foundational beliefs she’d been raised with and made her question some of her own experiences. But she’s a wonderful partner and a wonderful person.

Yeah, my wife and I weren’t leftists when we met. Now I’m an ML and she is mostly apolitical, but agrees with the basic tenets of giving workers more control and imperialism is bad. Like she isn’t a communist, but she isn’t not one. She just isn’t personally invested in identifying her politics.

So maybe the communism will win bit is coming on a bit strong. I think finding former Bernie supporters should work, because in general they should believe in many of the same things, just without the framework of how to actually make change. So don’t give up just yet. There’s plenty of people out there who may not identify with communism, but functionally with their beliefs are.

I agree, for the most part. BUT… I have a friend who’s an ML and her husband is a right-leaning libertarian (she was a lib when they met). He literally wanted to name their first kid after a character in Atlas Shrugged. It honestly sounds rough, it only works if they don’t talk politics and she does no IRL praxis. Sounds like he’s gotten a lot more apolitical in recent years, though. Oh and he’s a transphobe too.

I think people who are apolitical or even liberal who have sympathetic attitudes towards the poor and oppressed, totally, it can work. But there’s quite a few people out there for whom it really won’t.
