Huh, turns out my depression nest is now an ‘aesthetic’.

It’s almost like our parents robbed us of our future and left us stranded on a dying world without any power to change it so why invest energy in making things slightly “better” when you can just embrace the filth?

I don’t know about you but my parents never had the power to change things either

Mine did, at least my dad. He had the power to make a life better for his kid but he chose not to do anything with it and instead blame me, so I’m resentful over that fact. I’ve seen this shit play out with a lot of fellow millennials who had boomer parents. It’s not one-size fits all, mind you.

It sounds like you had a rough time but it’s not cool to associate that with old people in general.

As a gen x parent, I was really concerned when my kid said they were into trashcore and going “goblin mode.” Thank you Guardian for this 'splainer.
