2025 - covid declares humanity to be endemic.

There’s a subvariant of Omicron known as “BA.2” that’s currently ripping through different countries including the US and is starting to supersede the original Omicron variant. It’s apparently significantly more transmissible than even Omicron and is pretty good at evading vaccination protection. If you’ve just had 2 doses, after 4~6 months, protection from symptomatic (mild to severe) cases is only ~10%. A booster will get that to 30~60%. The data for severe disease prevention is still inconclusive, but preliminary, it’s about 80% with a booster.
