In this thread we recommend non-violent games
Cities skylines - very chill city builder, also very good mod support.
only caveat: it is a minor example of the infamous Maxis/EA model of monetization where you could easily end up spending four or five times as much on dlc and cosmetic packs as you do for the base game
If you have it on steam you can just copy some .dll files and you can have all the DLC directly through steam and without paying. I’m using this and it works great but its a random file from internet so ofc be careful
Workers and Resources Soviet Republic
Kerbal Space Program: semi-realistic spaceflight simulation game where you build rockets. Very fun if you are interested in space, but there is a steep learning curve to overcome before you can access most of the game.
Flight Simulators like FlightGear (free software) can scratch a similar itch. There’s very little space flight¹, but a similarly steep learning curve which bears similarly rewarding fruit. There was a good thread of recommended flights about a month ago.

That said, FGFS has the most advanced Space Shuttle simulation outside of NASA (wiki / video), just in case you think KSP RP:1 is getting too easy for you. 😈 What it lacks is the ability to leave Earth orbit and visit celestial bodies. This is likely never coming. On the other hand, many of the flight dynamics models are based on real wind tunnel data, the atmospheric and meteorological model is very accurate, the gravitational and geographic models don’t treat Earth as a sphere, etc.
