lol. It’s so funny seeing tweets from 2020 and them thinking it was only going to be a year.
Sometime in mid/late 2020 - at another site I made a 1,000,000 dead Americans coronavirus joke. A lot of people in that thread pilloried me. They said I was a moron, a fool, and I was being hysteric.
My reply was that I didn’t think a million Americans were actually going to die. I said something like “I have no idea how many people could die. Maybe it’ll be 150,000. So I used hyperbole because it’s a fucking joke!”
At the time it seemed to me that 150,000 Americans dead from covid was my negativity talking. Surely it wasn’t going to be that bad even with Trump as president and the right-wing starting to be anti-mask. My negativity-fu was weak and it didn’t and it hasn’t pulled me though. Time and again - I’ve underestimated the horror.
Today if I make a 2,000,000 dead Americans coronavirus joke - I wonder if the number is too small. I can’t judge anything anymore.

In 10 years I’ll be a counter-counter-counter-sniper on the Kansan front, where the war is in a stalemate due to the tactical advantages of marksmen in flat terrain forcing both sides to engage in an arms race of increasingly accurate rifles in a futile attempt to achieve a breakthrough. The most common death of non-sniper combatants will be from tornadoes instead of bullets.
I definitely feel like I won’t even be on the “hiding from cannibals with a machete” tier of apocalypse survival, I’ll just be cockroach farming at gunpoint or some raider’s foot rest or something :sadness:
