The internal combustion engine and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race
glances at the pre-industrial world
Uh… Maybe it’s not the engine that’s the problem.
It’s August in Texas and I don’t leave my house while the sun is up, because holy fuck is it miserable right now.
You can blame it on climate change, but “Texas is Hot in August” isn’t something that started happening in the last 10 years. Nevermind how cold it gets up in the Midwest. The number of people dying of exposure is lower than it’s ever been.
I’ll admit, I love cars and driving. But I would give it up a million times to make a better future for all of us.
cars aren’t even a problem imo. the problem starts when there is literally no other form of transportation.
Exactly. It’s designing an entire society around ‘every human must own a car to survive’
i feel that’s a uniquely american problem. most countries that can afford to have rail services have them.
dude i’d take a 45 minute train over a 45 minute commute. atleast i can switch off my brain and read or something while on the train.
I’m interviewing for a job that would be 1 hour 15 minutes commute, 45 of which are on the bus, instead of my current commute which is about 50 minutes in the car.
I’m completely on board because I can do other shit on the bus instead of mindlessly staring into space while listening to a podcast as I try not to get murdered by people in 2 ton steel cages.
I’ll admit, I love cars and driving
You’re only saying that because your dad drove so good.
Maybe someday we will only own cars ironically, and their single use will be in assisted suicide.
fuck the Koch brothers
Oh the fantasy where there is no longer work, I awake to pick a lovely fruit from a garden while I walk to the town square to commensurate with my comrades over sparkling water.
commensurate
not a verb
EDIT: didn’t mean to sound harsh, just confused and “commiserate” has a negative meaning that make me think that’s not what you meant in context… although now that I think about it it’s probably just that and autocorrect combined
EDIT2: also should have mentioned I loved your comment which is the reason I commented in the first place
