It’s true.
It’s a fun game, nothing like it except it’s sequel. My only problem with it is that if you’re doing a pacifist run there are sections where all you can do is run fast and hope the AI misses which is all RNG.
Ahh, that brief period in the late 2000s-early 2010s where EA published a bunch of really cool new single player games
From the developers of Battlefield btw. Back when they were still a bunch of goofballs in Sweden who prototype games with lego instead of whatever they are now.

Never forget what happened to Trauma Studios.
They were the devs of the BF1942 Desert Combat mod, and they were brought in to help make BF2. They lasted 9 months before being shutdown, and BF2 was released with many of the cooler features relegated to a separate expansion pack.

That was all in 2004-5 before the EA buyout (although EA was involved as the publisher). Mirror’s Edge came out in 2008, so it was likely in development while DICE was being trying to fight off the takeover and then ultimately negotiating with EA. Really lends a bit of context to the gameplay and aesthetic lol. Kinda karmic in a way.
Many of the best multiplayer PC games over the years were first created by the mod community.
Modding produces a truly meritocratic result because there’s no money, no advertising and genuinely no expectation of getting anything out of it, the only thing that can possibly affect the spread of a mod is legitimately its gameplay and ability to retain player interest. Under these conditions the best genuinely rise to the top.
Mods are the best example of art being created for the sake of it within the gaming space.
